Wireless connection requires a broadband connection-cable or dsl-- to your service provider. You cannot use wireless with dialup. Are you sure you are not using DSL? DSL uses the phone line, but is not dialup. If you do have a DSL modem, buy a wireless router and get the connection instructions from your dsl provider's web site or the Internet.

I'm confused, if your desktop is connecting via dial-up, how are you expecting your laptop to connect to the internet?
