Connection reset Error

I am having a problem with one of my PC's. It runs Vista. I have a router with two computers hooked to it. The one I am typing on now is fine, as you can see since I am posting. The other, when I open explorer or Firefox, it won't go to a website and in Firefox it says that the connection has been reset. I know it is connected to the router and can get to the internet as I can do AIM, Windows update, etc.

So, what could be causing this and how can I fix it?

The actual message in Firefox is:

Connection Interrupted
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading
The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.

I did nothing new, the computer had been running fine.  I did reboot the router and the PC.

Please help.

Okay, when I disable the Avast Web Shield, I can connect.  I don't see why it is blocking, thoughts?

Hello Ringfinger, I don't know anything about Avast or Firefox, since I don't use either of them.

However, on many if the Internet Security programs, you can allow certain web sites to be accessed even when the Internet Security program is working.

I would search the Avast settings and see if I could locate a setting to allow access to your home page,

Hope this helps.

Figured it out.  I also run Zone Alarm.  Seems someone denied access for the web scanner to access the internet.  Thus, the issue.

Anyway, runs now, but slow.  Maybe I will just keep AVG as it runs quicker, thoughts?

I am just glad that I figured it out with some searching.
