Connection to Internet

Hi,

I've just recently bought this laptop (in August) Its a Inspiron 15R  5521    Service Tag:  And my wireless keeps losing connection to the Router, before it used to be every now and again, but now its every 10mins !! I've tried other laptops on the router and its working, so its the laptop. I've rebooted the laptop (today) and its still not working, actually worse!

Its a touchscreen & I'm on windows 8.

Please help !!

Thanks

Greg

Hi GregScotland,

I recommend wireless drivers update for the computer.

  1. Visit the following website: http://dell.to/17F08dH
  2. Enter the Service tag of the computer in the box provided and click “Submit”.
  3. In the next page, click drop down arrow to select the Operating System which is installed in the computer.
  4. Under category Network, select the wireless network drivers accordingly and click “Download File” and save the file on desktop.
  5. Run the downloaded file and restart the system.
  6. Try connecting to the wireless network.

Please check the connection and post the results.

A wee bit of a break through, since turning my Mcafee firewall off, my internet has stayed on. Now Its not safe to have that turned off, so any help to turn in on, but also keep internet on?

Hi GregScotland,

Please give exceptions to the Firewall settings for Wireless communication in McAfee Antivirus software.

The steps to navigate through the settings should be under McAfee Security Center > Advanced Menu > Configure > Internet & Network > Advanced > Program Permissions > Add or adjust permissions.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

I'm afraid I'm back to the same old problem. My other laptops are working fine, but this brand new one hardly stays connected to the internet now, really annoying as I have Uni work & research to do.
