connection with aim continuously dropping

I have an Inspiron 6000 with Intel PRO/Wireless 2915 Internal Wireless (802.11a/b/g,54Mbps) for Inspiron 6000.  While I am chatting on AIM, my connection drops.  However, when I use Yahoo Messenger, I have never been dropped. 
 
Any suggestions?

When we sign on to AIM my buddy list comes up just fine, but if I try to IM someone or they try to IM me I get an error message and AIM closes down. Any suggestions?
