Consistent Internet Failure
OK...someone out there please explain this mystery:
SBC/Yahoo w/SpeedStream modem (PPP)
SRX200 Linksys router (PPOe)
3 comps - all w/WinXP
directly connected to router: Dell Inspiron, Dell Dimension, antique Compaq
We have had the same set-up for the past year with little or no problem.
However, every night for the past few weeks we lose the internet connection. We have noticed it happens at precisely the same time: 9PM. We discovered that a re-boot of the Compaq (where all the set-up occured) solves the problem. Is there some sort of timer in the Compaq/modem/router that we do not know about??

I'm pretty good at regularly running scans and updating - nothing seems to stand out. And I do have an idle, but there are more idle times during the day than the eve - that's what makes it so mysterious.
Maybe it has nothing to do with my end at all...maybe "they" test at regular intervals.
I appreciate your input! --V
