Do you have any 2.4 Ghz cordless phones in the vicinity? If so, try changing the channel that the router uses to one of the extreme channels (1 or 11) and see if that solves the problem. If it doesn't, post back with information about which wireless network adapter you have installed in that computer.
I am sorry to sound so stupid but are you talking about changing the channel on the phone or the router? We have 5.8 GHZ phones. The base is in another room but I have a extra phone that does not use a phone jack on my desk where the router is. The home base is across the hall and there is also a phone in the room next to my office.
The 5.8 Ghz cordless phones should not be interferring. (For future reference, my previous reply suggested changing the channel on the router). So, this is not your problem. Which model wireless network adapter do you have?
I just bought a XPS-M1210 and have the same problem. I have no cordless phones in my unit; therefore don't think there is any relation between the cordless phone and this issue. If there is then DELL really should have thought about this. I’ve placed a call in to the XPS tech dept but have not really received the help I thought I was going to get. I’m hoping they call me back soon about this issue. If I get any more info I’ll post again. But honestly I think that there is a problem with the wireless adapter.
I am not sure if this is what you are talking about but I bot this off of the invoice- Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/g Mini Card (54Mbps) for Inspiron 9400/E1705. Also now when you look at the same laptop, they call the wireless card Dell Draft N Wireless?
I have the Intel, I was just looking at a new laptop they had online just a minute ago and was wondering why it was different. But I have the intel. Earlier it was not that I was not willing to give you the info, I had left my house for a while.
Check in Device Manager. The Intel card is completely different from the Dell Draft-N and their are different issues with each, especially since the Draft N card does not conform to any accepted wireless standards. It is important to know which of these you have.
