Converting Cat 6 patch cable to crossover

Hi,

I mistakenly purchased a Cat. 6 patch cable to network my Inspiron 8200 and my mother's Dimension 8200, both running XP with factory installed Ethernet cards.

Is the protocol the same for converting cat 6 cable as cat 5?

Thank you,

According to the documentation I have read regarding Category 6 cabling, the only difference between Cat 5e and Cat 6 is that Cat 6 has higher transmission capabilities. The wiring within the cable should be the same, as Cat 5e connectors can be placed on Cat 6 cables.
