D410 MediaBase & Conexant 110
Good morning,
I have an interesting quirk with the Latitude D410. When the computer is not in the MediaBase, the Conexant modem works correctly. When the computer is in the MediaBase, the modem does not detect a dial-tone. I have used the Modem Helper and it gives me this message, "result code 70 - no dial tone at modem." I called Tech Support, and she said it was a software problem and tried to sell me a software warranty. I declined. I checked support.dell.com and used the troubleshooting tree 109435. I got to the point where it wanted me to open up the hardware to check for faults. I do not feel comfortable doing that.
If the Dell Tech Support knew right away that this was a known software problem, where can I find the solution? I am having troubles locating my specific incident.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
The system can automaticly detect, if the system is docked or not (via Profiles)
try the following:
1) Go to your Bios and check in the TAB Docking the Docking Device Info (right docking state?)
Check also the universal connect in the same tab (must be enabled)
2) Disconnect the Notebook from the mediabase.
Boot to windows. Go to the control panel / System Icon. In the tab Hardware you can find the button Hardwareprofile. In this new windows you can see normally 2 Profiles. Docked and Undocked.
Undocked is the defualt one, if your system is not docked in the mediabase.
Remove the DOCKED-Profile. After them shut down the system and put it in the mediabase and restart it.
The system detects now the mediabase, and will install automaticly all needed Drivers. Please take care, that at this boot is no external device connected to the mediabay.
After installing try again, if it work.
