D600 and D_Link router

I have 2 Dell D600's, both with an internal wireless card.  On laptop #1, I never had success connecting to my router until I used a D_Link external card and disabled the internal card.  On laptop #2, I am able to connect to my router and receive "Excellent Signal" readings, but my connection to the internet constantly drops.  At times, I'm running both laptops side by side to make sure my DSL, router, etc. are working, and I'm cruising on laptop #1 and suffering on laptop #2.  Are there any tips to be had?

On laptop #2 (dropped connection), be sure IEEE 802.1x is disabled, also make sure all firewalls are disabled....

If the above stabilizes your connection on laptop #2, swap cards between the two systems to see if the problem follows the card or the system.  If card #1 works fine in system #2, then you know the card is ok....if so, swap hard drives to see if the problem follows the system or the hard drive.   If you are still unable to connect on laptop #1 with the hard drive and card from #2, then you have a system board failure.   However, if the problem follows your harddrive, then there is still a problem with your configuration.

The above will at least help to narrow down the point of failure to determine if it is a hardware of software issue.

"Excellent Signal" readings, but the Internet connection (Internet Explorer) doesn't work. The problem is the Internet Gateway hasn't been established yet. and it can be established by setup the network (to make internet gateway and network works togather). It can be done by go to Internet Explorer / Tools / Internet Options / Connections / Setup... / (Welcome to New Connection Wizard) Next / Set up a home or small office Network / Finish.

Hi,

If your D-Link router supports "Super G+" or some other equivalent speed increase "technology", try disabling this. It will only work with other D-Link cards and if implemented, often causes others to suffer.

Russell.
