D600 - Wireless connection problem - Pleasse help!!

Dear All,

I have a Dell Latitude D600, running Windows XP Pro.
Up until 3 days ago I had a perfectly running wireless connection.

Suddenly I can't connect with the Internet anymore.
There is a connection with the access point/router (linksys) and when I check into the status of the connection you can see that it's sending packages to the router but not receiving any.

checking the ipconfig/all, I found that the setting for automatic configuration is set to No

There is another pc connected to the same router, and that one is running just fine.
I already updated the driver of the wireless card.
Also disabled all other network connections.

However, nothing seems to work.

Can somebody pleazzze help me out on this one??

thankss,
Grace.

I'm having the same problem with a lot of our users.  I have a feeling it has to do with a MS update that was distributed recently...but not positive.  I'm doing a little research and if I find anything, I'll let you guys know.

Typically, you want automatic configuration (DHCP) to be on. Isn't your other, working PC set to automatic configuration?

The other working PC was/is indeed set to automatic configuration. That's why I thought my laptop might as well needed the same settings.

In the meantime I was able to solve the problem (well, at least it looks that way).
I have a (secure) VPN client connection as well on my laptop which I use for accessing my office network.
I couldn't make an internet connection with either my normal ISP or my VPN.
Completely frustrated with the fact that it wasn't working, I disabled and deleted all installed LAN connections, then I removed my VPN Client as well and installed it again.

and guess what, now it's working perfectly again.

Normally I have absolutely no problems with the VPN, probably it went corrupt somewhere along the way. I'm happy it works again.

thanksss for trying to help me out!!

Wow - I'm glad (sort of) to see this thread because I suddenly have had the same problem.  My Dell D610 WinXP Pro (only 3 months old) suddenly won't connect to my Linksys Wireless router.  The on-board IntelPro card is fine, but when it tries to dynamically choose a DHCP connection, it can't pick up the IP address.

I found a weird workaround by going into the Linksys router and deleting any other wireless entry on the "DHCP Active IP Table."  It seems only to work if the laptop is the first one on the list (in this case 192.168.1.102) but then my other laptop (running WinXP Home edition) won't connect.  I dont' believe it is a firewall issue because one laptop uses Internet firewall and the other uses ZoneAlarm, and yes I have disabled both but still they won't grab a dynamic DHCP IP address

I used top be able to connect both laptops just fine, but now suddenly I can't.  I have tried many different things to get this to work again without intervention.  Does anyone else have ideas?  Could this be virus / Trojan?

By any chance, did any of you recently upgrade to Symantec AntiVirus CE version 10? We're seeing similiar problems with 2 D600 with the 2100 wireless.
