D620/ProSet Issue
This is a new one that has just started up on me. I have a D620 with XP (Service pack 2)I've updated all of my 3945ABG with the latest on Dells site (I'm at 11.1.0.86) My ProSet is at 11.1.0.30. I just upped the main BIOS (A08?) To see if that helped. Nothing. At home, with my stock Linksys WRT54G, I'll boot the laptop, and WiFi shows that there are no visible access points. I go in, delete the driver and then go back and Add New Hardware in the Control Panel. Suddenly all is fine. I go to the coffee shop. Login to the free wifi (at Caribou it's Wandering WiFi) I am running fine for a bit then I get a drop and upon trying to reconnect I get 'Problem applying profile!' from ProSet. This will persist until I reboot, then all is well (for a while anyway) I've tried the remove/add trick when this happens, but it just locks up upon remove. At that point if I run the Manual Diagnostics Test (in ProSet) the radio test will fail (saying it can't get the status of the radio.... despite giving accurate listings for all of the APs it sees) Is this a screwy software issue or hardware? If its hardware, why is the reboot/driver resinstall fixing things. Ideas, anyone. This is starting to drive me batty. :(
