D800 Bluetooth Firmware Problems.

Hi, i installed the bluetooth firmware update, and it restarted after completing it, however, bluetooth has stopped working, and when i check device manager (windows xp) under bluetooth devices it reports `bluetooth module in firmware upgrade` as if it hasnt finished.

i have since tried everything i can think of to sort this out, ive just reinstalled xp, same problem, i have tried to reissue the firmware update but it says turn bluetooth on, which fn & f2 just turns the 1400 wlan card on and off..

please help?? is there a magic cure?

yep, sounds like that's well and truly splatted! I hope you manage to get Dell to replace it, it's always a pain being at the forefront of these problems as tech can't be as much help as they might normally be.

there should be a dell response to this thread.

let us know how you get on,
Richard.

this is why I always get the 3YR NBD on-site service on systems I purchase as it alleviates a lot of the hassle. I assume this is something you don't have? Big pain! Hopefully it gets sorted soon.

come on Dell, where are you?

i rang dell about this. they have addmitted that the new driver on the current dell site will and might cause firmware update errors. if this error occours. dell have to replace your bluetooth card.

mine was replaced today, a guy came over my house with a new mother board and bluetooth card and replaced.

I have the return-to-depot warranty on my 1-month old D600. The Bluetooth card became intermittant soon after the laptop arrived: pressing on the palm rest made the card appear and disappear as others have found. Dell took the laptop back by Airborne, replaced the Bluetooth card, and returned it to me inside of 3 days (pretty fast by my book).

However, now the laptop doesn't see the card at all. Not in Device Manager, not in Bluetooth Configuration, and not in BIOS setup. According to the repair document, they replaced the BT card but not the MB....

Before the repair, I also tried the FW upgrade, which stalled for over 1 hour until I gave up and rebooted out from under it. It apparently got nowhere (likely because the card never was connected for long enough), and aborting the upgrade made no difference: same erratic behavior before and after.

Anyway, I'll send it back to them once more for a final try, but if that doesn't work I probably will just remove the card (I only paid $30 for it anyway) and use a USB dongle or something.

Hi!

Today I upgraded the firmware in the Bluetooth adapter in my D800. This upgrade made it impossible to use the bluetooth modem in my mobilephone T68i. The computer discovers the modem but can not communicate with it anymore. I can't uninstall this upgrade because there are no old firmware to download.

Before the upgrade everything worked perfectly but I needed the upgrade because a bought the new Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse today.

This is a really big problem för me because I really need my bluetooth modem when I'm travelling.

Today I got a new modem driver from Ericsson and everything works great! So it was no problem with Dells update. Sorry!

Anyone found out a new option already? Got the same problem and just recently discovered it. The USB noise is getting annoying when i turn on my truemobile 1300 with the fn+2 combination.

I had the problem, that by installing the Bluetooth driver A05 from the delivert driver CD the installation hang up by the firmware update.

Configuration:

-Latidude D600

-Windows XP

I solved the problem in this way.

1. Install the Servicepack 2 (Windows XP), the drive A05 with the firmware update of the Bluetooth device needs SP2. Reboot the system and complete the installation of SP2.

2. Start the system in the safe mode and uninstall the Bluetooth device in the devicemanager.

3. Reboot the system and install the latest notebook system software, available on the Dell support site. Important: Cancel the automatical device installation by Windows.

4. Install Drive A05 from the Dell support site. This driver has no firmaware update. Reboot the system.

5. The Bluetooth device should now be listed in the device manager.

6. Install Driver A05 from the driver CD with frimware update. Now the firmware update should run. The firmware update takes about 3 minutes.

7. When the firmware update is done, the led lights and the Bluetooth device runs.

Mayby some other solutions work. In my case it was important that the driver from the CD A05 with firmware update doesn't stop by the installation with the error: the device isn't found or aktive. So I think you have to look that the Bluetooth device is found by the driver.
