D800 Broadcom controller not recognized

I have a Latitude D800 running WInXP Pro that has been running fine for 6 months. Very happy with this machine. Recently I was on a business trip and connecting to the Internet via wireless or a USB ADSL adaptor. When I returned to the office I found my Broadcom 570x Gigabit ethernet adaptor was no longer present in my hardware list. Tried re-installing the drivers for the controller but no luck. Checked that the adaptor is enabled in BIOS. Any other ides would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately there are no settings to be configured. The card is not visible in Control Panel --> System --> Hardware at all. The light on the card is solid on, so I have the feeling this card is dead. It's an intergrated card so I guess Ithe only option is a new motherboard :(

I bought this machine on ebay and now find that the System Tag is not recognized, either on the US or Canadian support sites. I called Dell support and they cannot help me. The original seller told me he bought this laptop at an auction from a company that has since closed down. A real mess!

The system tag on the machine is H8HKS31 if that helps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
