dead modem

Someone please help me.  I deleted everything and reinstalled windows.  I can't get the modem to work, and don't know where to start...  I put in all the disks per instructions, but am still getting a "cannot find modem" error message...

Did you install the chipset, video, network, modem & audio drivers after the reinstall? If not, lots of things won't work. Have you installed the latest service packs and OS updates?  It would help if you tell us the computer model and operating system.
