Dell 1350WLAN encryption setup

I need help to set wep/wpa encryption on my Inspiron 600m with a Dell 1350 WLAN and Broadcom 440X 10/100 installed.  I,m not understanding the concept.  Thank you.

First, you need to setup your wireless router by creating an encryption key (also known as network key) to protect your wireless network.

Next, on your notebook, search and locate your wireless network (using its SSID), connect to it, and enter the network key when prompted (just like using a password).

Does the key have to entered every time?  No, only when connecting to the network for the first time.  The wireless client software should remember it.

Can you cut and paste the key into the feild?  Yes, most wireless client software can accept this method of inputting the key, but this is software dependent.

Does the 1350 WLAN support WPA?  According to Dell's documentation, it appears to have WPA support.
