What system do you have? What OS are you running?

One additional question--will the 9100 with the ATI 9800 Mobility card run Vista very well?  I was thinking of upgrading to Vista.  The Vista Microsoft tool shows that it is compatible but I'm very suspicious.

Hi Gina and thanks for responding so quickly.  I own the Inspiron 9100.  I reloaded the driver from safe mode and everything seems to be working fine.  The weird behavior was interesting.  The OS (Windows XP Pro--latest) would recognize the 1450 card, fail to load the driver, finish and then reload over and over and over again....I had to reboot to stop the behavior.

Nonethless, I decided to load the driver in safemode and it worked like a charm.

Thanks,

lol I was reading through your post and was thinking the best way to know is to run the Vista Compatibility test. :) Since you've done that and it says it will work then it should. Microsoft has done a nice job with that tool and I've found that it accurate. If you received any special instructions then go ahead and do them. You should be fine. If you are concerned you may want to make an image of your OS as it is now before the upgrade. I know that Vista has an option where if you load it you can go back to XP but there are some very specific requirements. You may want to visit our Vista board and post this question out there.
