DELL 1705 Wireless Connection Issue

I have a Dell E1705 laptop.  I am using the Dell WLAN Utility program for wireless internet connection.  I have a Verizon router and fios service.  When I open the utility, my verizon network appears as an available network with a strong signal in the site monitor.  When I try to connect, it  appears to do - nothing.  There's no error message - it just doesn't connect me to the network.

The router is working and other wireless devices (a desktop with a netgear adapter and Xbox 360) are fine.  I have tried disabling the Dell utility and connecting with the Windows program but it freezes up.  I was connected to this network for 2 mos. with no problems, went on bizness trip and used unsecured network at hotel and have not been able to connect since returning.  Verizon says it is a Dell problem.  Hardware seems to check out OK. Any ideas?
