Dell Bluetooth 355 problems w/downgrading Vista to XP

Hi...looked for other users with this problem but didn't find any, so here goes: Problem: Dell internal Bluetooth 355 adapter is intermittent, and cuts in and out when using a bluetooth mouse (logitech v270). This mouse works fine on another non-Dell machine, so it's safe to eliminate it as the cause. But when I use it with my Dell, it the "connect/disconnect hardware" 'ding-dong'/'dong-ding' sounds everytime the mouse cuts in and out. I'll be using the mouse just fine, then I hear the 'ding-dong', and no mouse movement on the screen even though I'm moving the mouse, then, usually a few moments later, 'dong-ding' and the mouse plays catchup and is working again. It usually cuts in/out every five minutes or so, which is really annoying. Sometimes it'll go 15-20 minutes with out doing it, but that is rare. I have a brand spanking new E1705, that came with Vista which I quickly removed and installed a clean XP Pro. I don't know if this has anything to do with it. Thanks.

Ahhhh, someone with the EXACT same problem! Same machine, same OS. It only happens for me when it comes out of suspend or hibernation, doesn't happen on a clean reboot. I've told Dell support over and over again it's probably a driver issue/bug. They keep wanting to send me a replacement Bluetooth module. Have you had any luck resolving the issue?

I have the same problem too on my Insprion 9400 (same as the E1705 I think). It came with XP, so not a downgrading from Vista issue. I only get the bluetooth disconnections after coming out of hibernation or stand by (suspend) too. It can happen 3 times in 10 mins sometimes. But if I reboot then the bluetooth is solid and I can use my bluetooth mouse, keyboard and mobile phone without any problems. One other thing I have noticed is that the disconnect always seems to happen when I am dragging something such as the scroll bar or an image from one place to another, have you noticed this?

Dell support have replaced my bluetooth card on my support contract, but if anything it has made it worse. I have installed the lastest bluetooth drivers and Setpoint software, but it hasn't made any difference. I agree that it appears to be a driver bug that Dell need to fix, unless someone has found a fix?

Sorry you're having the problem, but glad to hear it's not just two of us. Anyone know how to elevate this to Dell Support?

I have found a consistent way to reproduce the problem. My system is Windows XP SP2 with all of the latest Windows software patches, running the latest version of Firefox. After bringing the laptop out of hibernation, link up your bluetooth mouse. Then visit cnet.com. Boom, I have no idea what's on that site or what plugins it's running, but every time I go there is when the havoc starts. DELL, please get this fixed!!!!
