Dell Customer Service

I am posting this message all over the Dell Forum to see if there are other unhappy customers out there.  Here are my specific complaints relating to the quality of Dell products, poor customer service and, finally, the problems I am having with Dell Financial.

Quality-Dell Inspiron

I was initially happy with my Dell Inspiron.  Though it seemed to have a few gliches (the dvd player kept stopping and then starting, the hard drive constantly spun as if looking for something), I had very few problems initially.  After a year the power cord wore out, the connection to the adapter unit failed.  I had never experienced this problem with my HP or Compaq laptops.

Then, I started to have trouble with my memory, seems that one of the 2 memory cards was failing.  So, I ordered 2 new one to double the memory.  Soon after I installed them, one of those cards started to fail.  I called Dell and the Tech Rep told me the chip socket must be bad, and that I may as well buy a new laptop rather than fix the problem because the cost would not be that different.  Now after 8 months, my new power cord is showing signs of failing yet again even though I have babied the new one to make sure the wires did not fail again.

Dell All in One Printer

It is noisy, feeds paper crooked and you have to buy Dell print cartridges which are over priced.  Very unhappy with this printer.

Customer Service

It takes a ridiculously long time to get through, they are all Indians, and though they are courteous and seemingly knowledgeable, they generally cannot solve my problems especially when it comes to Win MX issues.  Their solution is to reformat the hard drive.  The time it takes to get through and then fix the problem is not worth my time.

Dell Financial

I accidentally overpaid my account by $700.  It was my mistake; I called Dell Financial as soon as I realized my mistake.  After talking to a succession of managers, they finally agreed to refund my money with the condition that I pay the current amount due and well as the next month due, which I did.  2 months went by, and no refund, so when they called to tell me I was late, I explained the situation to the caller.  I felt I had no alternative than to stop paying until my account was straightened out.  It has now been 5 months, my money has not be refunded, they have turned my account over to collections, I continue to receive harassing phone calls.

So, my question to the Forum Readers is:  Has anybody else out there had problems with Dell.  Are there a lot of unhappy people out there?  Dell’s PR is that they provide a quality product at a competitive price with superior service.  This has certainly not been my experience.

I am going to have to admit that yes i have had a few problems with my dell inspiron notebook but i have found there customer service and technical support very very good.  They were all english they all gave me direct phone numbers to them and one even rang me back the next day to check everythng was okay.  I have found dell extremley helpful.

You must have just been un-lucky!
