Dell E4200 Wireless WiFi Internet Issues

Hi, I have a Dell Latitude E4200.  Worked great out of the box!  Very fast and stable.

The problem that I'm having is with Internet connections.  To put it shortly, after about 5 minutes of connection via WiFi, the Internet plainly stops working.

Longer version:

- Cable Internet (RoadRunner)

- Linksys Wireless G Router

Now, I have several computers, all working with Internet connected via CAT5 or WiFi.

The Dell E4200 actually works perfectly fine, when connected via CAT5.

I don't have any P2P clients installed, multiple connections to sites, viruses/malware, etc...

It's just, after about 5 minutes, when trying to connect to sites, it would just 'hang' while trying to connect to websites via names (like it would say "Connecting to google.com...." and stay that way)

I would have said that maybe there's something wrong w/ the DNS resolving, but all other computers work, and CAT5 on the E4200 works, so I think maybe there's something wrong with the  wireless card's network stack when just plain connected to the router via WiFi.

Are there any solutions to this?  I haven't installed anything on this computer since I got it a month ago, except FireFox.

Thanks In Advance!

I am having this exact same issue!  Did you find a fix yet?  We have only had the machine 2 weeks and it has only worked twice for long period of time....

Akumax,

Just a hunch. Do you have Windows Live Esentials installed? If so, try removing it in the control panel and see what happens.

After talking with Dell this is what fixed it for us:

Remove the software call "Intel Wireless API"  - dell said it is factory installed and it does cause conflict...just make sure it ends in API

disabled the Intel 5100 wireless N in the properties under advanced for the wireless card

download the latest drivers for the card from Intel.com directly - dell said they don't put the newest driver on the laptop and to do this.

Now I did all 3 of these changes at once because I didn't have time to test it before the owner left, however it works great now.

Cool, I will try out the above.  Actually, I was able to isolate when this happens -- it is when I use some kind of wireless encryption (WEP or WPA2).

So to recap, upon initial connection (and restart of computer), I can connect to websites and anything just fine.  Also, I use Remote Desktop Connection to remote into other computers.  Now, the strange thing is, once the websites stop loading, the current connection to the Remote Desktop still works fine.  Even though I can't view anymore websites, as long as Remote Desktop stays connected before the wireless starts malfunctioning (for new connections of any kind), the wireless still works.
