Dell Inspiron 1150 problems
Right before christmas we purchased a dell inspiron 1150. We haven't had any problems till a couple days ago we went to turn in on and it popped up an error message right after the windows xp logo appeared. The error said stop: c00002, than something along the lines of fatal system error and it wouldnt do anything. I searched support.dell.com and random internet sites for help, but eventually i got to windows xp download screen on the inspiron where it let me delete the partitions and clear the hardrive and reinstall windows xp. After i got xp installed, i installed several programs. When i went to setuup my internet connection, i kept having problems, after a few times it popped up a error message that said "modem removed- unavailable device (COM1)" so i realized i hadnt installed the modem. I went to the install new modem screen but it said that it couldnt detect a modem. I went to the choose from a list option, but it wouldnt detect any of those so i was just going to download from the disk, but i dont have a modem install disk. Does anyone know what i can do to fix this? Also when i go to properties and settings to change my screen resolution from 640 by 480 pixels, it wont let me click and drag the bar. It also wont let me change the color quality. Can anyone tell me what to do?

Although the chipset drivers should have been installed first, after the WinXP clean install, install these (“click here”)
<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>before any other drivers.
"The Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility is the first driver to install. If it is required for your system, it should be installed immediately after installing your operating system and any operating system service packs.
The Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility files inform the operating system how to properly configure the chipset for specific functionality, such as AGP, USB, Core PCI, and ISA PnP services. In order to be able to install any chipset-related drivers (e.g. graphics, IDE, etc.), your operating system must first be able to recognize your chipset."
Since I’m not sure of your modem or graphics drivers… “click here”, enter your “Service Tag” and the “Original System Configuration” tab should show the components your system has.
Once you’ve figured out which drivers you need… then “click here” and enter your “Service Tag” or System (Inspiron 1150). Select your Download Category (choose “Communications” for the modem driver), select an Operating System (choose “Microsoft Windows XP”) and click “Submit”.
Change the Download Category to get whatever driver you need.
