Dell Inspiron 1501 Ethernet Controller, missing drivers Windows 7
Hi Rick,
I have some problems with my laptop and seems like you know about this. Well, i don't have a clue! Would you like to help me with this problem?
I don't have internet connection on my Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop.
I opened the device manager and near the Ethernet Controller it's a yellow .
A friend of mine said that the driver is not good.
I actually don't know what to do.
May you help me with some advice?
Thank you in advance,
Bianca.

Bianca,
Download the System Information Tool If using Vista/Windows 7, the tool needs extracted. Once extracted, right click on sysinfo and run as administrator.
If using XP, double click on the tool, then double click on sysinfo.
Allow this past your virus program and post the information back here.

Same problem here
Wired LAN does not work and the icon remains yellow. Tried broadcomm drivers from dell site, but they show Wireless LAN and do not detect any WireLan onboard.
There is an onboard LAN and was working before fresh installation of windows.
LAN LED's are blinking even if no RJ45 is attached.
Could neither remember what was the type of ethernet LAN , nor any clue from curent state.
Cany anyone help?

saeedturk,
Download and install in order...
Dell Notebook System Software
ATI SMBus Chipset Driver, v.5.10.1000.7
You may have to install these in the XP Compatibility mode, since Windows 7 is not supported on this system.

I have the same problem with my Inspiron 1501 also, only with more non functional devices.
I'm starting to think that the chipset is going bad. This type of behaviour isn't normal for Windows.
