Thank you for your suggestions. I installed the latest driver and it seemed to have gotten better for a while. However, It still requires me to constantly troubleshoot/ reset Wi-Fi whenever I'm online especially when viewing videos. It would buffer quickly but the connection breaks up. I never had these issues with other computers. I'm in the process of replacing the Wi-Fi- card. I'm not sure if that's going to solve the problem or not. Do you have any other recommendations besides that?
Thanks.

The changes I made under the Power management tab seems to have done the trick. My computer is working fine now. I hope it stays like this. Thank you for your help.

I've been dealing with all the above issues. My Wi-Fi only seems to work when the Wi-Fi is reset.
But that takes several different "FIX CONNECTION PROBLEMS" screens. I've tried disabling the Bluetooth and I tried to update the wireless card (Dell Wireless 1704 802.11b/g/n (2.4Ghz)). It told me the driver is up-to-date. What can I do to fix this?

producerakemi,
Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your network adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.
Click on Advanced, look for Antenna Diversity. Chaneg the Antenna Diversity from Auto to Aux.
Go to start > device manager > advanced > bandwidth capability > change to 20/40mhz
Go to the power options, and changed the Wireless Adapter Setting, from Maximum Power Setting to Maximum Performance.

I don't think I need to say anything else. After a day or so, the WiFi simply refuses to work and I have to either reset, or when that fails, plug in my own adapter. It is positively annoying.
Windows 8. Where do I get the model number?

FlashingYoshi,
Your system...
Inspiron 3520
Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit
Make sure to remove your external adapter.
Let's first try this...
Hit the Windows key and the x keys at the same time, control panel, network and sharing center.
Click on your connection, click on properties. Look for TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6 and click on properties for both. Have your settings match mine.
Hit the Windows key and the x keys at the same time, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your network adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.
Click on advanced. Look for Antenna Diversity. Change the Antenna Diversity from Auto to Aux.
While in Advanced, look for bandwidth capacity. Change this to 20/40MHz
Go to the power options, and changed the Wireless Adapter Setting, from Maximum Power Setting to Maximum Performance.

The problem is still intermittent, but it's better; it reappears, but sometimes solves itself.
