dell inspiron 5100 ethernet controller driver missing?

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 5100 from a friend.  I blew anyway the partition and reinstalled windows xp home edition from scratch, as I do when I buy a computer from someone.  I was able to update all drivers with the Dell CD that came with the computer, but the last one I am having trouble with is the Ethernet controller driver.  I look in Device manager and it says it is not installed.  How and where do I install it considered I have no internet connection and no floppy drive.

It also says I am missing my Video Controller (VGA Compatible) driver.

You help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Jaan Kanellis

Sure I understand where they are at.  I guess my question is how do I figure out which one I need under "network" so my landline connection will work to my cable modem.  It just say it needs a " Ethernet controller driver"

It's pretty easy to figure out which one you need, as all but one of them are for wireless network devices.  The ethernet driver is the following:

This thread is 8 years old and will be locked, if you are having issues, please make a new post including your model of Dell and Operating System. If looking for a driver please also provide the hardware IDs:
