Dell Inspiron 640 m wireless

Question

My friend just got a new Inspiron 640M...with Vista. The computer connects fine to a LAN connection but Wireless will not connect. Well it will, but doesn't allow you to browse the internet. It will however log onto AIM, MSN and any Messenger type program. But will not browse the internet on Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. I have gone thru all firewall settings on both windows side and any anti virus program side. The wireless network should let her acess the internet. I've updated the drivers, internet browsers and everything. so why can't she browse the internet.

The firewall will be blocking the Internet
for Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer

All firewalls have been turned off. that was the first thing I thought it was. but still doesn't work

Have you properly configured all the wireless settings in the wireless router's web utility?(MAC address, WEP/WPA security,etc.)
