Dell Inspiron N5110 wireless network problem

I am using new Dell Inspiron N5110 laptop and having problem with the wireless connection.  the laptop works fine with Etharnet cable.  I have an old Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop which works really well with WiFi using same Router.

I have search lots of topics on Dell support website and also contact the broadband provider as well but according to them the fault is with the laptop and not with their connection line.

Please suggest me the solution for this problem.

Hi krunalshah,

Check the wireless connection in Safe mode with networking (restart the computer and tapping F8 on dell logo. Select Safe mode with networking).

Do follow the steps below to check which network card you have in the machine:

  1. Right click computer icon on the desktop.
  2. Select Manage.
  3. Select Device Manager from the right pane of the window that opens.
  4. Expand Network adapters from right pane.
  5. This will list the network card installed in the machine.

Uninstall and reinstall wireless card drivers:

  1. Click on the Windows Start button.
  2. Type the following command in the search box and then hit the Enter key: devmgmt.msc
    1. Note: Technically, opening Device Manager from the Command Prompt would require that you actually open the Command Prompt program. However, running an executable program like this from the search box accomplishes the same thing.
  3. The Windows 7 Device Manager will display immediately.Double–click the type of device that you want to uninstall.
  4. Expand Network adapters from right pane Right–click the specific device you want to uninstall, and then click Uninstall.
  5. In the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK.
  6. If the issue persists, try updating the update the wireless router's firmware to the latest available.

Reinstall the Wireless card drivers from Dell support site. If you still want me to help you installing the wireless drivers, kindly let me know the wireless card model and the Operating system installed on the computer.

For more information, I have provided a link below which can fix the issue:

Hi Krunal,

Did you check if the wireless works in Safe mode with networking?

Run diagnostics on the wireless card.

http://dell.to/17WlWjz

From the above link, select “Choose a diagnostic type” as component. Under “Make a selection” select “Network card” and Run diagnostics.

Also, refer the following link which has step by step procedures to troubleshoot wireless issues on the computer:

Hi,

I am facing the exact same issue with the Dell Inspiron n5110 model. I read some where that replacing the 1030 adapter with 6230 does the trick. Is that correct?

Uninstalling and re-installing drivers isn't working.

Thanks,

Hi Udit,

This system supports even Intel Centrino Advanced Wireless-N6230 Half Mini-Card + BlueTooth 3.0. You may replace the card if you wish to. However let us check why the system is not goiing online wirelessly with this card. I would like to know if you ran diagnostics on the wireless card. If the diagnostic test passed, check the wireless card settings of your computer from 'Device Manager'. The options may vary depending on the model of your wireless card.

  •  Open Device Manager by clicking Start/Windows logo on desktop --> ‘Control Panel’ --> ‘System and Maintenance’ --> ‘Device Manager’.‌

Note:  If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  • Click on arrow in front of Network adaptor and check for the correct wireless card.
  • Right click on it, then properties and click on Advance tab.
  • Right click on it, then properties and click on Advance tab.

  • Click on roaming aggressiveness and from drop down menu select it to Minimum.

  • Click on Ok.
  • Restart your computer.

In case you are unable to online even after performing the above suggested steps, let me know the exact error message you are getting to assist you further.
