Dell Network Assistant Software Startup Problems

The software does not respond to its settings.  I don't want Dell Network Assistant Software to start whenever Windows starts, yet it does.  I changed settings but the software does not respond and continues to start when Windows starts.  What bothers me is that it takes time to initialize and a start up screen is displayed slowing down the computer start time.

Any thoughts on how to get rid of this short of removing software?

Since I have never seen this software, nor know how it got on your computer, it is difficult to be specific.  Have you tried compeletely removing the program through Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs?

Please see the attached Dell website for more info on network assistant.  I would appreciate your thoughts.

With much trepidation, I downloaded and installed the Dell Network Assistant (making sure to set a restore point before doing so).   I played with it for about 10 minutes and overall found it to be a bit quirky, but otherwise a useful tool.

You are right that it seems to take a long time to load and seems to delay the startup.

You are also correct when you say that if you go to the settings menu and uncheck the boxes for it to start up with the computer, that it even with the boxes unchecked, it still runs from startup.  This is definitely a bug in the program.

You can fix this by going to Start > Run and typing msconfig then hitting the Enter key.   Click on the startup tab and remove the check mark in front of Dell Network Assistant.  When you OK out, you will be asked to reboot the computer.  Let it reboot and when the message comes up saying you are running is a special diagnostic mode, put a check mark in the box to not show this message again.   The Network Assistant will not run from startup and you will still have access to it from the Start > All Programs menu if you want to run it.

On installation it does add itself to the Add/Remove Programs list, so that if you don't want it at all, you can go to Start > Control Panel > Add & Remove Programs and remove the program entirely from there.

I removed the software.  When Dell fixes the bug then I will reload it.  I definitely am not buying it.  I was wondering if this bug is only in the trial version.  They need to get rid of it because I am not buying the full version if this is any example.

Thanks for your efforts.
