Dell Precision M6700 Wireless Woes
Hi all,
I have a Dell Precision M6700 computer. Recently I got a new solid state hard drive and reinstalled Windows 7. I went to the Dell site, and had it detect and download all needed drivers. Now I have a problem with wireless.
The internally installed wireless card is a Intel Centrino Ultimate - N 6300. The card is detected and the driver installs, but whenever I got to connect to a network, it doesn't show anything regarding wireless networks. If I restart the computer, in the adapter settings, it will be greyed out and constantly says "enabling." I tried a lot of things, including the save version driver I had on my other hard drive, no luck. Additionally, I can put my old hard drive back in and the card works just fine with the old instance of Windows/installation.
So I figured there was something messed up with the card and the driver. So I uninstall the stock adapter, and I buy a USB wifi dongle from Office Max. Install it, and what do you know, same exact thing happens. Wifi dongle is successfully installed, but upon trying to connect in the tray to wireless networks, nothing appears. I restart, same problem, adapter is greyed out and says enabling.
To me, this seems that there is a problem with one of the higher level drivers that deals with wireless on windows.
