Dell Search Engine
I have a brand new desktop, delivered on 3/03/06.
When I type in certain web site addresses, I am sent to the home page of the site and then immediately the screen jumps to a google search screen. The bar on the bottom of the screen (that shows open web sites) shows "Dell Search Page".
I want to get rid of this search page!!!
There were two google programs in my computer when delivered. One a google tool bar and the other was a google desktop something-or-other. I immediately removed both programs. When I went on Dell Chat this a.m., they suggested running a virus scan - which I did and there were no viruses.
One of the sites I am trying to access is a work-related site that I really need on a daily basis and can't live without.
Help, please!!

patderon,
Check in Control Panel -> Add/Remvoe Programs to insure that all of the google desktop and google toolbar have been uninstalled.

I just bought a new Dimension desktop E510 and I am having almost the same issue. I try to look for jobs on newspaper Carerrbuilder and as I click on each job listing I get thrown back to the Dell Support page with this message:
Sorry, we couldn't find http://ad.doubleclick.net/adi/N3754.CareerBuilder/B1635050%3Bsz. Here are some related websites:
I contacted Dell Support and they told me that this isn't covered and I would have to pay to talk to someone to straighten this problem out. I told them, this is a brand new computer and they said it doesn't matter. Can anyone help me?
Thanks!!!

Hi,
I don't think the problem is to do with Google, the site that I am redirected to has Dell's logo on it but, as with a lot of these types of sites, is powered by a Google search engine.
I talked to a Dell helpdesk employee by email but she has no idea about this type of problem. I am beginning to think that Dell does not train it's support staff very well.
This is my third Inspiron in 5 years, the other two have caused no problems at all but I have had to contact Dell support on numerous occasions in the 3 weeks I have had this one. Most of the fixes have come from this forum.
