Dell Wireless internal card inconsistent configuration error fix
This might be the fix for this particular error.
Try doing a clean install of the Dell Wireless Utility in SafeMode. Download the freeware, SafeMSI.exe, so you can install apps in SafeMode.
If the above link no longer works then try Googling it.
After installing it, select NO to not Restart the computer yet.
Run Registry editor (start -> run -> type regedit).
HKey_Current_User\Software\Broadcom
Navigate to the 802.11 entry in Windows Registry and modify "AllowCompCertAuth" with a value of 1 and same thing with the entry "IsJustInstalled", modify it to 1.
Restart the computer. Dell Wireless Utility should be fine after that.
If the above steps did not fix the problem, I suggest editing the Registry and compare the entries here to the entries in your computer. Add the missing ones to your computer. Hopefully that fixes the problem. You can also copy and paste these registry entries in notepad and save the file as .reg instead of .txt Just double-click that .reg file and it'll merge it to your Registry. These entries were from a working installation of the Dell Wireless Utility for Dell Wireless 1390/1490 devices. It might work for the olders ones as well.

System Specs that my wireless card is installed on:
Windows XP Service Pack 2 - with all the latest Windows Updates.
Dell Utility broke after installing one of the Windows Updates, atleast that's when I noticed it.
It was working fine before that update or updates.
If all this doesn't work, then read this thread. I haven't tried this yet. This discussion seems like it's talking about computers that are part of a Domain, meaning that regular Domain Users don't have enough permissions for certain C: drive folders so you need to modify the security permission settings in the one folder that the thread is talking about. Good Luck!
