Dell Wireless issues

My dell wireless sees a connection and it is very strong but when i try to connect to it it cannot. I have a latitude d530 and i am stuck using a linksys USB to connect. If the wireless sees the network and says the signal is strong then how can i get it to connect so i can browse the internet ?

Do you own or otherwise have permission to use the wireless connection in question?  If you do not, then there are any number of ways that the owner may be locking you out and preventing you from connecting.  MAC filtering and encryption are the two most common methods.

It is my connection at home and it is also unsecure so it should be good to go. I use a linksys USB right now until i can get the dell wireless to work. Dell wireless see the connection and even says the strength is excellent. Do you have any ideas at all. Can i get windows to take over and control what dell sees ? Or atleast recognize it. I am having HUGE intel pro wireless issues and support here on the tech side is not helpful at all. I have been in sveeral chats and no help at all to get the prowireless working either.

Do you have vista or xp?  You should obtain the latest intel drivers for your wireless card from intel.com (tell me your OS and card model and I'll provide a direct link).  You should be able to remove the ProSet software via control panel like any other software.  If you do this and install the new drivers only (and not the new ProSet utility), you should be good to go.

After a deep scan and removing the intel files completely i see there is not a intel proset onboard at all. I have the Dell Wireless and it sees the connection and says the signal is strong. Thank you for replying and i hope you can help me get the Dell Wireless to connect. I have Vista Home Basic.

I have a Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN mini card Rev 3.0

OK i got the Dell Wireless to work. It was not a Dell Wireless card issue at all. It was my westell wireless router. I just needed to update the firmware. It had not been updated since i bought it brand new a few years agao. It was at version 3.0.3 and the upgrade was all the way up to Rev 8.0.1 As usual it was user error and i am the user. I hope this helps someone else. Thanks guys for all of your help.
