Dell wireless Wlan card will not uninstall

Having run windows 7 upgrade I was told that the wireless card was incompatible to windows 7 and to uninstall it. I have tried to do this through the usual install/uninstall programme but it will not uninstall.  I get a message saying that the Wlan card uninstaller has stopped working.  Help please, I cannot carry on with upgrade until this has been removed.  Thanks

Thanks for your amazingly quick reply.  It is a Dell Studio laptop 1555 running Windows Vista.  I don't know if I should put the windows 7 upgrade disc in regardless but obviously I am concerned I might screw laptop up.  I do have cds for all programmes.

Remove it or Disable it in Hardware device manager, not add remove programs. The card is a device, not a program. Warning--depending on your computer model, you might not be able to change the card. If you have a laptop, you will not be able to change your wireless card and would lose that capability. You should reconsider installing Win 7 if that's the case. You should always post your model when asking a question.

Hi. I have the same problem & same laptop.  Having searched for advice, I have used the device manager to disable and when that didn't work to uninstall the wlan.  But the upgrade assistant dics repeatedly says that it has not been successfully removed.  Can anyone help please? Thanks. Gerry
