Dell WLAN Link Status="NOT ASSOCIATED"
Hi! My roommate's internet has been really slow lately. She has no viruses or anything but webpages take FOREVER to load. The rest of her computer is fine. I was comparing our settings (as we have wireless internet) and when I click on the DELL WLAN UTILITY in Control Panel and then LINK STATUS mine says ASSOCIATED and hers says NOT ASSOCIATED. Also....her packet sent/received are really low (like 5000) where mine are like 500-700,000. Whats wrong with hers??? Thanks!!
- Thanks for your reply. Im a little slow...Im not sure how to check whether Windows or the WLAN Utility is managing the connection? Where exactly is the Windows utility? If it's under WIRELESS CONNECTIONS --then yes both of them say CONNECTED-but her WLAN says NOT ASSOCIATED and mine says ASSOCIATED.
In the WLAN Utility, if you click on the "Wireless Networks" tab, there is a box at the top that says "Let this tool manage your wireless settings" if Windows is managing the connection, or it says "Let Windows manage your wireless settings" if the WLAN utility is managing the connection.

First try the following:
Go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /flushdns then hit the enter key.
Are you absolutely sure that this system is free of all spyware. Note that there is no single program that removes all spyware. Which ones have you tried? Did any of these antispyware programs find any spyware (besides tracking cookies). If so, then it is likely that there is more spyware and you might consider using HijackThis as explained on the HijackThis forum here at the Dell Community forums.

The most likely reason you see the difference in the WLAN utility is that if Windows is managing the wireless connection, then the WLAN utility will show a Link Status of "Not Associated". If you open the Windows utility, it will show a status of "Connected". If the WLAN utility is managing the wireless connection, it will show a Link Status of "Associated". Is the WLAN utility managing the wireless connection on both computers?
