Desktop won't remember Network WEP key

My Dell 3000 desktop won't remember the WEP key for my wireless network. Everytime I restart the PC I need to use Dell Network Assistant to reconnect to the network. Once connected, it stays connected for the whole session. I'm using Windows XP, and a Netgear wireless adapter. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Why are you using WEP. It is less secure. Use WPA2 AES it is more secure. You will need this upgrade here first. Let windows manage your wireless connection.

Thanks for the reply. I need to sort this problem first before attempting to change my security settings, but thanks for the advice. I am using Windows to manage the network connection. I think I may have solved the problem by uninstalling the network adapter, and then reinstalling it.
