dial up

I connect to internet using broadband and it works fine until I change from one website to another, as soon as I hit the new link my system automatically tries to dial up to the network again - very annoying and a real time waster - any ideas?

Try this.  Open Internet Explorer and go to Tools > Internet Options.  Click on the Connections tab and put a check mark next to "Never dial a connection".

Let us know if this fixes the problem.

thanks volcano - no it doesn't seem to I think the problem lies in the fact that I keep losing the connection - got no idea why - i also run my work computer from this line and that works just fine - it must have something to do with the set up - shoud i have an automatic connection or proxy server set up?

That depends a lot on who you ISP is and whether or not you are using any kind of web "acceleration" software.  I haven't used a dialup connection for many years, so it's difficult to provide advice.  On all my connections none of the boxes are checked on the LAN settings page.   If you suspect this to be the problem, there is no harm in changing those settings.  You can always change them back.
