Dialup disconnected, yet "connected"
Dell Dimension B110/ XP/SP2/ 512RAM
Every other day or so, my dialup connection disconnects for no apparent reason (I have everything unchecked that has anything to do with disconnecting). When this happens, the connection icon in the tray will show the bubble message telling me the connection speed. But I know it's not really connected because the browse "can't find the server" and my computer answering machine (Call Wave) is x-ed out, meaning it's offline. So, it's like the connection is working, but not actually connected. Then I try to close it, but can only do this by Ctrl+Alt+Del, and it takes about 40 seconds. Often, when all this happens, everything just locks up and hangs, and I have restart or shut down.
Help!
Any ideas?

I have the exact same problem.
Did you ever get this fixed?
Thanks.

I never figured this out. Sometimes it seems like the computer has two minds. I was told you can have programs in conflict with each other and it can cause this to happen.
I gave up.
Now I have DSL, with a different set of problems. But at least it's faster
