Hi,

 

For hardware radio switch OFF message, go into device manger -- Expand Network Adapters -- Right Click on the Wireless Card -- Properties -- Click on Advanced Tab -- In the list of properties there, see if you have an option to turn off and turn on the radio.

 

Make sure SSID Broadcast and Wireless Radio feature on the router is not turned off. Try using the Linksys Wireless Configuration utility by turning off XP's Wireless Configuration feature.

 

As you have already tried using a different wireless card, problem might be with the router here.
