Dimension 2400 wireless help
Please help. Have a Dimension 2400 with Linksys wireless adapter that I have been
using for several weeks. Had trouble with the connection a few days ago, and somehow
while trying to "fix" apparently really messed up. I no longer have a wireless connection icon on the network connection page. Called Linksys for help but they say they can't help without the
icon. Do not have a wireless connection icon anywhere (even in the tray) that I can find.
Router is fine (also using for a wireless connection on laptop). Linksys monitor shows "connected"
and signal is strong. Just need to know how to re-set up connection. When I try to make new connection,it does nothing.
The only connection showing is Broadcom, and that one shows "unplugged".
Help!!! Use this computer for work - need connection restored desperately!

Steve - Thank you for replying, and yes I did try that, but it was unable to restore. Said no changes had been made ...???
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated..

Have you tried using System Restore to restore your computer to a condition that existed before the problem started?

Try going into Device Manager and removing the wireless network adapter. Reboot, and then reinstall the drivers for the wireless adapter.

* disconnect this device and leave it unconnected
* Add/Remove programs and remove any LinkSys software related to this device
* Do a computer shutdown of the computer
* Start the computer and use the software CD and follow all directions for installing
* When the software directs that you plug in the USB, do so but make sure it is NOT into a USB hub. It should be plugged directly into the PC (back? front?)
My hunch is that Speedbooster will need to be turned off or disabled unless all your equipment is the same. In fact, you should probably try it as either 'b' only or 'g' only, depending on the character of your wireless access point.
