Dlink DI-524 Installation Problems

Hi-I have a Dlink DI-524 wireless router through my ISP Comcast, through which I have cable internet access.

I've been trying to set up the wireless router but once I get through the installation process it always gives me an error saying no router detected.

Any ideas? This is a real pain.

can you look on the bottom of the router and post back the hardware revision and the firmware revision?

Sure hardward version E1 and f/w ver. 5.00

Does that help or were you looking for something else?

alright.

first reset your router.  press and hold the reset button for 20 or so seconds and then release.  when the lights stabilize (wait a minute or two), unplug it.

turn your cable modem off (unplug it).  connect your router's WAN port to the cable modem via an ethernet cable.  plug the router back in.  turn the cable modem back on and let it sync up.  Connect your computer to one of the router's LAN ports via an ethernet cable.  Do not use the dlink configuration utility (aka junk).  Open internet explorer and type in the router's IP address (should be 192.168.0.1).  the defaul user name and password should be  name: admin  password: leave it blank (but check the user manual).

Once there, configure the router as you would like.  If you plan on using wireless, please use the best encryption that all your wireless clients can support (best to worse: WPA2-PSK, WPA-PSK, WEP).

I was asking about hardware revisions because revisions C can be upgraded into 624s :)
