DNS? Issues with Axim X51v
FYI -- I've already posted in the Axim group, but y'all seem to be much more active here :-)
My wired networking skills are adequate for basic stuff, but I'm a real novice when it comes to wireless.
I have a wired network with a Linksys RV082 router & Linksys EZXS88W 8-port switch. Due to some unique video needs, I'm using static IP addressing for the network. I finally recently added a wireless access point (Linksys WAP4400N) when we added two wireless laptops to our fleet. Everything was working fine . . . until I tried to get a Dell Axim X51v going, and that's where my trouble is.
I'm able to wirelessly connect the Axim to the network (I can open the router's set up page), but when I try to get on the Web (or send/receive email) with the Axim, I get "The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again" error message no matter which common sites I try to access.
To a user in the Axim forum, DELL-Jimmy_P said that if one can access the router and also access a numeric (not sure if that's the correct terminology) Web addy (the example he used was http://143.166.83.38/) then the problem is with the DNS settings. Sure enough, I can access my router and I was able to access the Web page example he provided, so I guess I've got DNS issues :-(
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find any further information there. I've double-, triple-, and quadruple-checked the IP addy, Subnet mask, and default gateway in the Dell Azim X51 WLAN Wireless Adapter page, and they are all correct.
What am I missing here? The other wireless devices are still working fine with the same settings . . .
TIA for any suggestions -- I'm completely stumped here & getting more gray hair by the second!

OK, this is a duh moment, but I finally figured out what my pathetic problem was. I'm posting my resolution in case it might help others having a duh moment :-)
While I had properly configured the IP Address tab on the Dell Axim X51 WLAN Wireless Adapter screen, I had overlooked the Name Servers tab. Entering the DNS there (which in my case is the same as the Default gateway on the IP Address tab) had resolved my Internet & email difficulties.
But, it's nice to know y'all are here, even if I am embarassed by my operator error!

Normally, picking your own post is considered bad form for an Accecpted Solution. However, considering the circumstances of the problem and the solution, I think we'll let it slide this time. ;)
Thank you for posting the fix in case someone else runs into the problem.
