DNS Problem?

Hello. My computer is not connecting to any websites, though it's connecting to the internet. I called my ISP they said it might be a problem with the DNS. I can get my IP address, but it won't connect to any websites. I was in the Command Prompt trying to ping yahoo, but it kept failing. The person helping me made me reset my connections because now nothing appears in the "My Networks" or "My Connections" folder (I think, I don't remember. I was too nervous to pay attention). I tried restoring my computer but that didn't work. He told me to call the manufacturers and tell them whats wrong and to also tell them that I did the "sp2 trick".

Anyone know how to fix this problem or what I should do now?

The first thing you need to do is tell us what kind of internet connection you have (cable/dsl/dialup).  If it is cable or dsl, does it connect through ethernet or USB?  Do you have a router?

everything is okay now. I called Dell and after two hours we figured out that I had so much spyware that my firewall (norton internet security) decided to just block everything.

Thanks anyway.
