Do I need a Modem ?

Have just placed an order for the XPS 720 H2C and have been sent an email saying that the modem I selected is not compatible with the Soundcard that is bundled with the unit - my question is this, do I need to purchase the modem or does the unit come with a LAN port that I can just plug my current router into when it arrives ?

My worry is that I do not want to scrimp on the sound card for the sake of a modem but if I get it and can't get on the internet because of it - I won't be too happy !

Thanks for your time.

You only need a modem if you are on dial-up or want to use the PC for faxes.  If not, then you can use the modem PCI slot for something else, such as a sound card.

PC's come with an Ethernet port, which is what you need for Broadband.
