Doesn't Pick Up The Network?!!

I've had a problem with my computer lately, because I haven't been able to get on the internet. My wireless network card is installed right, but it doesn't detect my network, and I think this is due to ipconfig, and if anyone knows what iProtectYou is, my sister installed that, and it was uninstalled wrong, which I think messed it up. This is a software problem, and has nothing to do with a bad signal, I know this because my sister's laptop can pick up a signal in the same room.

This is the third board you've posted this issue on and you seem to ignore some of the suggestions from the other threads.  IPCONFIG does nothing more than report back to you the IP Address your system currently has.

You need to:

  1. Scan your system for spyware
  2. Update your system with all relative patches and fixes
  3. Either perform a clean install or repair install

And above all, slow down and start thinking the probelm though rather than running off on tangents!

The wireless radio may be turned off.
Try pressing Fn+F2 once and see if there is any change.
If that doesn't help, reboot the computer and keep tapping F2 on the Dell logo.
Once in the BIOS setup page, press Alt+F and check if the time is reset. If the time resets, change it to current date and time using left, right, up and down arrow keys.
If it Pheonix BIOS, you will have to press just F9 and confirm the prompts.

Reboot and check.

one thing i can suggest you is to update the latest driver for the card.  AS you said it is not able to detect any network.install the latest driver for the card. . then restart the computer and keep on tapping F2 it will take you to BIOS settings says page 1 0f 6 or 1 of 7 press alt+p to get in to page 3 . check for the wireless radio. it should be on if it is off use the up and down arrow key to highlight it and use the left and right arrow to makee it on. press esc it will save changes and restart hit enter. if it still unable to detect the network check for ssid broadcast option it shoould be enabled in the router.try this as far as the spyware infection is concerned run adaware. or try with system restore.
