Draft N Losing Connection

My equipment:  E1505, Dell Wireless 1500 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card, Netgear WNR834B, Vista 32-bit.  I am losing the connection at random times after being connected, and almost every time the machine sleeps or hibernates the connection will be lost.  Sometimes rebooting will restore the connection but most of the time I have to restart the router.  This is only when I try to use the 270 mbps draft n.

I currently have my settings at up to 54 mbps.  This was recommended by Dell and very rarely loses connection.  Other than that they have been unable to help me with this issue and I am kinda disappointed about spending the extra money on draft n.

Thanks for any help or suggestions, sorry about the long post.

Check for updated drivers.  Bascially, Draft N = Beta, meaning the standard just got ratifed not long ago.

welcome to the wonderful world of Draft N...you are basicly dealing with two issues....Vista and Draft N. There are a lots of posts about how lousy Vista is with networking..add on top of that the Draft N equipment and there you go..

Hopfully SP1 for Vista will help address the networking issues with the OS.. as to the N that will proably not get resolved untill the N specs are finally ratified...which was supposed to be by last year but now is later this year or early next. The issuse is different mfr are using different chips and implementation ways to achieve the N basic specs.

Generally the best way to achieve the best performance is to use all N equipment from the same mfr. I had N stuff myself and experienced the same type of issues you are and once I dropped back to G the wireless has been rock solid..

My advice is to wait it out and see what shakes out by the end of the year.
