Draft N Wireless?

Ok, I just recently purchased a new Inspiron & configured it with the draft N wirless card. It hasn't arrived as of yet but I have been reading up on this & now I'm a little nervous. Sounds to me like this thing is nothing but trouble. Should have not gone with this card? Also, I heard it is not internal...is this true?

Does anyone that has one have any insght?

First, the 1500 is a non-standard internal card. It is Draft N, which means it uses some version of the not yet accepted N wireless standard. Although the advantages of the N standard will be great in terms of increasing range and speed, since it is not yet a standard, you will likely have compatibility problems until the real standard comes out. The 3945 is an Intel internal wireless card. There have been driver problems with this card, but I think Intel now has this sorted out and it should be OK so long as you have the latest drivers from Intel. Note that you are not likely to have the latest drivers on the machine when it is shipped, so if you get this card, make sure to go to the Intel site and get the latest drivers. The 1390 card is also internal. I have that card and have no problems, but people have reported problems with certain wireless routers. It seems that the new generation of wireless cards have some problems with older routers and may require a firmware upgrade on the router.

I recently purchased a XPSM1210 with the draft-n wireless card (internal). It works great (up to 270 mbs!!). I do have a draft-n wireless router as well. What kind do you have?

I used to use a wirless G Linksys router but since switching to SBC they supplied me with a router & I'm, not exactly sure what it is. I will have to check.
