The PCI communications device is your modem. As the for ethernet adapter, try the drivers for the 3 COM adapter first, and if they don't work, try the ones for the Intel adapter. All drivers can be downloaded from:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/devices.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P3C_4100&os=WW1&osl=EN

How were you able to resolve the Network Driver Problems.. I'm having the same problem right now. I've installed all drivers available for the Network

I had a Dimension 4100.
It did not come standard with an Ethernet card.
I installed one in mine.
If you didn't install one in yours, you don't have a Ethernet card.

The older D4100 didn't, the later ones did.
