Driver not updating????
I am having a problem with my Kaspersky internet security. I keep losing my connection ever since i installed it....they say i need to update my Network driver.
Now my problem is it every time i try to update it, it always say's no better driver.....now surely there must be because my computer is nearly 3 yrs old now and the network driver has never updated no matter how often i check.
The network card i have is Intel(R) PRO/1000 PL driver version 9.0.15.0. I have searched and searched for an update with no luck....could someone please help me......is there an update? Is there a reason why i can't update?

What operating system are you using? Is Kaspersky compatible with it? If it worked before Kapersky then I think that's the problem. Check the Kapersky site for updates.
Network drivers that work are seldom changed unless a new capability is added. Most are dated from 2006 to 2008. I just purchased 3 new systems with drivers dated in December 2006 for wireless N and June 2008 for intel gigabit.

Hi Mentor :) Kaspersky have a special tool in which they can check your whole system to find problems with compatibility etc. say's no conflicts at all. Only thing it had to say was driver update needed for my network card??? Strange i know lol.
My operating system is XP sp3 Dell xdp051, intel pentium, 4 3.4ghz, 3GB Ram.
Oh and my driver is dated 2005.
Thanks for your advice Mentor it's appreciated.

Also make sure you have the most recent build of kaspersky. Hotfixes and definitions are auto-updated, but you must install the latest builds manually (preferably with a clean install by fully removing the old build). Current build is 8.0.0.506

Hi Dave i had a look at the list before downloading but there was no mention of the driver for the
Intel® PRO/1000 PL Desktop Adapter.........is the driver for the PL the same as the PT?

I believe that the driver is generic. I have not really found any info on the PL Most of the time there is no difference

The dell support site shows that the current one and only driver is the one i'm using dated 2005.
I am finding all this confusing because of the lack of info available for my version PL when all other drivers seem to have updates and kaspersky insist that i need to update in order for it to run properly. Oh well lol should have stuck with my McAfee and wouldn't have these problems :)

TRY THIS SITE. Also, check with the dell support site for your system and see what they show the current driver to be.

Rather than download all which one would you think is must likely to work or recommend?
It is strange the lack of info relating to the PL version(beginning to think i am the only person to have this dodgy adapter lol). I have done alot of searching with no luck for info relating to it.

If you were to look at all the listings on the intel site for the pro/1000 you would see that the differnt extensions, all use the exact same driver. So the one I linked to is the same driver for all the versions.
Heres what you do. Download the Dell driver. Download the intel one. Create a system restore point. Install the intel one. if it installs your ok if not it will probably tell you so. Then you can either see if the orginal driver is still on the system or use your restore point to roll back to before the driver install and reload the Dell driver and you will be back to where you are now.
