Drivers
I reinstalled Windows XP on my Dell Dimension 8300 and I am missing numerous drivers. I went to the drivers section on this website and downloaded and installed all available drivers for my model, but I still have that yellow question mark on the following items under the device manager: Ethernet controller, PCI input device, USB Controller, Video Controller, and Multimedia Audio Controller. Anyone know what I can do to rectify this? thanks

Eddie57,
When you reinstalled the operating system, did you install the Desktop/Notebook system software and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order
Start with the Desktop/Notebook system software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.

I wasn't aware of the order but actually I did install the chipset first. I have most of my drivers installed except the Multimedia Audio Controller and the PCI Input Device. Still trying to figure those out. Thanks

You should not install all the drivers on the list since it contains all the diff hardware that was sold with your model and will include hardware you don't have-even if you used your tag. You should look at your Hardware Device Manager to see what hardware you actually have. It is crucial that you install drivers in the proper order. The error you are getting is because you didn't install the Desktop System Software first along with the Chipset drivers. If you don't install those first, the other drivers do not install properly. Find the Desktop System Software under System Utilities on your download page.
