A dsl connection will run at 0.7 to 1.5 Mbps, depending on the service.  A wireless G network adapter runs at 54 Mbps. I'm not sure what you are asking in your second question - but if you are sharing an internet connection through a router or ICS, then you won't notice much of a slowdown, unless both computers are downloading large files at the same time.  I run four computers through a router connected to a cable modem, and don't really notice any slow down during normal web browsing.

Just to add to what Steve said, there is a lot of confusion about wireless broadband speed.  The 802.11 standards (a, b, and g) are the speeds of your internal LAN and not the speed of the ISP connection.

I personally believe there has been some slick marketing about "faster" wireless networking with 54Mbps with 802.11g while the ISP is only providing a 3.0 Mbps download pipleine at best.  That's why I tell my customers to stick with the 802.11b standard for the average home user.  The security is essentially the same with MAC filtering and the prices are better.

Just my 2 cents.
