DSL vs. Cable

Off the subject of computers; but, I need some advice and input.

I've been using DSL for about 4-5 years; but, now I'm considering switching to broadband cable (RoadRunner); whereas, I can, also, subscribe to Vonage phone service.
My overall desire is to stop using the local phone service/DSL which is expensive and a "pain".

I have 2 Dell Dimensions (8400 & E510) networked and hardwired through a US Robotics router with a built-in print server. Everything works fine.

If I switch to RoadRunner, can I still utilize my current PC/router setup? Are there any disadvantages to using cable? Can I continue to use Firefox browser with RoadRunner?

Thanks..........

The router will still work, although you may have to change it's configuration if it is currently using PPPoE to make the dsl connection.  Otherwise there will be no difference except that cable is probably faster (depending on your ISP).

Thanks Steve.

My DSL is PPPoE. I noticed on some of the RoadRunner info (online) that they use a "version" of IE for their browser and I can only assume that I would not have any problem using Firefox. I'm just not an IE person.

Unfortunately, where I live you only have one choice for telephone/DSL service and many people are "fed-up" with the service and their prices.

You can use any browser that you want, and you would probably want to stay away from the branded version of IE anyway.

At my Cox high-speed cable I use a stable of web browsers:

* Bon Echo (version 2 of FireFox)
* Maxthon
* Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2

Each is unique so both at home and at work I use all three simultaneously. I especially like Tabbed interface
By the way, FireFox did a security update 10.5.03
